Can You Handle It? v1.3.0 BETA is Waiting For You!
THE LOSPEC PALETTE URI HANDLER IS UP AND RUNNING!
Hi all!
Today I’m releasing the latest update to LPI as a public beta - this is a pretty significant update, so I’m including it alongside the current stable release v1.2.1. If you’re curious and want to try the beta, just install it like you normally would! Otherwise, you can stick with version 1.2.1 no problem.
Since this is a beta release, please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or feedback. You can add comments here, on the main page, or submit an issue on the GitHub repository.
The major new feature in this release is the ability to use the Open In App links on Lospec.com. This feature is intended to work alongside the existing ability to import palettes by name, so no worries - that feature isn’t going anywhere!
So what does this mean? With v1.3.0b of the extension installed, clicking on lospec-palette:// URI links will automatically open the Lospec Palette Importer’s “Palette Preview” window - you can import palettes directly from Lospec!
Here are some important “platform-specific” things about the latest update:
-
WINDOWS: in order to register Lospec Palette Importer as a “URI handler” for lospec-palette:// URIs, the extension needs your permission to add some info to the registry
-
Mac OS: a small companion app is now bundled with the extension. It acts as a go-between that handles accepting the info from the palette URI and passing that to Aseprite
-
This feature is not supported on Linux (don’t worry, the extension will still behave as normal otherwise!). Unfortunately, the particulars of getting this feature to work on Linux vary from distro to distro and I don’t have the means to test them all :( thanks for understanding!
Here’s a link for you to try once you have the extension installed: lospec-palette://outrunner-16 (this is one of my palettes - you’ll have to copy and paste this link, since itch doesn’t think it’s a URL)
You can read all about this update here on GitHub.
